Meet Richard Almes: Corporate Video Producer
We had the good fortune of connecting with Richard Almes and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Richard, what do you attribute your success to?
While there are many production companies who offer camera, lights, sound and editing, we also offer, not only the dedication to the client and their needs, but an assimilation to their culture and brand. We become the ‘trusted employee’ who doesn’t just show up on time and produce content that reaches and affects their audience, but one who practices great discretion with their projects and internal information. We almost never post behind-the-scene photos, talk about the projects or ask for credit. That seems to resonate with our clientele and is part of the reason they have kept us ‘around’ for many years. It’s never about us. It’s always about them.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I earned a B.S. Degree in Civil Engineering from The Citadel. I then went into local municipal law enforcement, started at the bottom, and was promoted to Lieutenant after 15 years. I went into the video business full time in 2001 after working it part time for about 13 years.
My unique background provides me with a very technical and science based skill set coupled with the law enforcement skill set which helps me successfully interact with people during stress and non-stress situations. To survive in police work, you become a psychologist, whether you like it or not.
I am self-taught in all aspects of the video production business to include on-location, budgeting, business development, post-production and everything in between. I am very grounded but it took a long time to get there!
